Inicio : En el Mirador de La Minas de San José - final- en el mismo lugar

Este es el sendero nº 30 Los Valles , de la red del Parque Nacional ,para llegar al punto de inicio tomamos la carretera general tf 21 entre la estación del Teleférico dirección al Portillo y en poco más de tres kilómetros veremos la zona conocida como Minas de San José , ahí veremos las señales de inicio del sendero ,el cual en el primer kilómetro es llano pasando entre algunos abetos resto de algún pequeño bosque del que solo quedan algunos ejemplares junto al camino ,luego iremos iniciando una bajada en zigzag que nos llevará entre diferentes cañadas y pequeñas degolladas pasando el Valle de Trujillo y el volcán del mismo nombre ,todo el camino tendremos de frente al Risco Verde y la Cañada de Diego Hernández y más al fondo a la izquierda montaña Arenas Negras (2346 m .) e Izaña ( 2400 m. ) y a la derecha la silueta del roque La Grieta y Montaña Guajara ( 2715 m .), el descenso se hace más pronunciado llegando a la conexión con el sendero nº 4 Siete Cañadas , giramos a la izquierda y ahora estamos justo bajo Risco Verde y tenemos de frente roque La Carabela y El Cuchillo , seguimos unos 300 metros y llegamos a la cañada de Diego Hernandez , ahora miramos a la derecha y tenemos su cueva y de frente el Teide y a la derecha vemos Montaña Mostaza (2248 m. ) .
Ahora tenemos varias opciones seguir a la derecha dirección al Centro de Visitantes del Portillo a unos 4.5 kilómetros o seguir a la izquierda hasta el Parador Nacional a unos 12 kilómetros , en mi caso realizo el mismo que la ida , recordar que el transporte de Bus entre ambos centros es escaso con dos conexiones a las 11 horas aproximadamente y a las 15 y a las 16 horas más información http://www.titsa.com/index.php?accion=linea&IdLinea=348 y http://www.titsa.com/index.php?accion=linea&IdLinea=342 ya de regreso al punto de partida bien vale observar el paisaje volcánico y de arenas de Las Minas de San José , siendo un punto con buena visión de casi todo el circo de Las Cañadas.
